FIRST-EVER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RACE WIN FOR LEXUS

  • A Lexus RC F LMGT3 race car wins an FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) race for the first time
  • The #87 RC F LMGT3 entered by the AKKODIS ASP team wins round five of the 2025 season, the 6 Hours of São Paulo
  • Lexus is pushing boundaries and challenging the established order in only its second season of WEC competition

2025 6 Hours of São PauloLexus achieved a breakthrough victory when an RC F LMGT3 race car overcame its rivals to win for the first time in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), at the 6 Hours of São Paulo in Brazil.

Lexus is establishing its performance credentials by challenging more established racing brands and pushing boundaries, whilst providing opportunities for different drivers – including young hopefuls and ambitious gentlemen drivers – to participate at the highest level of sportscar competition.

AKKODIS ASP Team started the six-race at Interlagos from second and third respectively with its #87 and #78 RC F LMGT3 cars. From the start of the race, both Lexus showed impressive performance against intense competition.

The #87 RC F LMGT3, driven by Petru Umbrarescu (Romania), Clemens Schmid (Austria) and José María López (Argentina) – a former Le Mans 24 Hours winner with Toyota Gazoo Racing – completed 216 laps to win the race by 37.716 seconds. In the #78 RC F LMGT3, Arnold Robin (France), Finn Gehrsitz (Germany) and Yuichi Nakayama (Japan) challenged for victory throughout and finished fifth.

The RC F LMGT3 is an authentic racing version of the high-performance RC F coupe which is homologated for competition, and a relative newcomer to WEC competition, having made its debut in February 2024. Since then, the AKKODIS ASP team and its drivers have grown stronger together with their RC F LMGT3, which has earned its first WEC podium and pole positions earlier this season.

After its first WEC victory, AKKODIS ASP Team is fourth in the championship with three races remaining. The next round takes place in the United States, at the Circuit of the Americas near Austin, Texas, on 7 September.
