Class-leading efficiency for the all-new lexus is 300h
CO2 EMISSIONS FROM 99g/km MATCHED WITH POWERTRAIN OUTPUT OF 223 hp
The new 2.5L hybrid powertrain developed by Lexus, and fitted for the first time in a rear-wheel drive vehicle in the all-new IS 300h, reaches unprecedented levels of energy efficiency. Capitalizing on many years of engineering and market experience, the latest implementation of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system brings an even greater environmental performance — with absolutely no compromise on power or driving behaviour.
With a total system output of 164 kW or 223 DIN hp, the new IS provides a dynamic drive supported by quick and smooth acceleration. CO2 emissions, as homologated for the European market, start from 99g(1), corresponding to a fuel consumption at 4.3 l/100 km. No other petrol, diesel or hybrid vehicle in the D-premium sedan segment is able to match this outstanding result.
The IS 300h hybrid powertrain features a newly developed, 2.5 litre, 133 kW / 181 DIN hp, four cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine featuring a next generation D-4S fuel injection system, Dual VVT-i and a high-efficiency Exhaust Gas Recirculation system. With the rear wheels driven through the system's Electric Continuously Variable Transmission, the new IS 300h combines a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.3 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
The driver can also modify vehicle and powertrain behaviour by switching between up to 5 different drive modes: EV (petrol engine switched off), ECO (optimal fuel efficiency), Normal, SPORT/SPORT S (more aggressive throttle response and sportier steering setting) and SPORT S+ (additionally adapted suspensions tuning)
The new IS is also available with an F SPORT package, featuring an exclusive tuning of the suspension and Electric Power Steering paired with an optional Adaptive Variable Suspension system as well as bespoke exterior and interior design elements.
The IS 300h is the first Lexus full hybrid where the battery is positioned beneath the luggage deck board. This again contributes to a sportier driving behaviour thanks to a lower centre of gravity and greater rear body rigidity, while also offering luggage capacity on a par with that of petrol engine models — and 60:40 split folding rear seats.
With its resolute look and ergonomic cabin layout, advanced technologies and enjoyable driving experience, the all-new IS 300h represents a strong contender in the strategic D-premium segment. Displayed for the first time in Europe at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the IS will be launched across the continent in June/July 2013.
(1) From 99g for the IS 300h ECO grade to 109g for the IS 300h F SPORT.
