Lexus to produce lexus short films

  • Premiering in Early 2013
  • First Lexus Short film to be directed by Justin Tipping

Lexus announces the collaborative production of a series of short films with The Weinstein Company, the multimedia production and distribution powerhouse that won 8 Academy Awards in 2012.

Lexus is dedicated to surpassing customers' expectations, both with the luxury cars it builds and the luxury experience for its customers. With its new products, Lexus has introduced striking new designs and a more engaging driver's experience.

To highlight the new look and feel of the brand, Lexus approached The Weinstein Company to produce a series of short films that will offer similar levels of inspiration to viewers.

Lexus selected the short film format as it represents a key expression of the future in cinematography. Each film will be developed by an individual director chosen from among the best up-and-coming talents in the industry. Each director will represent a different part of the world, as well as a different genre of filmmaking. Through these films, Lexus will demonstrate the powerful ability to be moved by innovative, dynamic story-telling that challenges the imagination and reinforces that life is an amazing experience.

The first director selected by Lexus is Justin Tipping, a recent graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory. His career began directing and editing in the commercial and music video arena where his work gained recognition on MTV, VH1, FUSE, and Discovery Channel networks. His short film NANI, world premiered in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival. It went on to screen at over 40 film festivals around the world winning more than a dozen awards including the Student Academy Award (narrative), and the Director's Guild of America Student Filmmaker Award. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Franklin J. Schaffner Fellow Award and the Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence Award for his directorial work at the AFI. Justin is currently represented as a writer/director at United Talent Agency.

The names of the other four directors will be disclosed later on www.lexusshortfilms.com.

The Lexus Short Films series will premier in early 2013. In the meantime, the films' progress and production can be followed through www.lexusshortfilms.com beginning Wednesday, November 28.
