Lexus has no peers when it comes to reliability, being the only manufacturer accorded a top five-star rating in the 2016 Which? Car Survey.

The survey results were calculated from the real-world ownership experiences of almost 60,000 people, taking into account issues such breakdowns, repair costs, common faults and the number of days vehicles have had to be taken off the road to correct problems.

Lexus achieved strong results across the board in the Which? guide to the best new and used buys in different market categories. The NX crossover was named the best compact SUV on the new car market, with a five-star reliability rating, while the second and third generation RX models were revealed as the two best large SUVs for used vehicle customers. The IS and GS saloons also achieved top-four placings in the large and luxury car categories, while the CT 200h hatchback was given a “best buy” recommendation among new medium-size models.

Ewan Shepherd, Lexus Director, said: “Which? is respected worldwide for the accuracy and thoroughness of its product testing and investigations, which makes this result especially rewarding for us. Lexus’s reputation is built on not just developing excellent vehicles, but also on providing our customers with an exceptional ownership experience, so it is hugely encouraging to receive such positive feedback and support for what we are delivering with our model range and the service we are providing in our showrooms and workshops.”

Which? is not alone in finding that Lexus provides lasting quality and satisfaction, new or old. This year’s Auto Express Driver Power survey was an unprecedented success for Lexus, with models claiming first, second and three other places in the top 10, and Autocar declaring the IS executive sports saloon its Used Car of the Year.

tag,Awards,2015NX,NX 200t,NX 300h,hybrid,IS 300h,IS 200t,GS 200t,GS 300h,GS 350,GS 540h,GS F,CT 200h,2016 IS,2015 NX,2016 GS,2014 CT

Third generation RX luxury SUV named the UK’s most reliable car, ahead of the current IS sedan

Lexus GS placed fourth, with NX and CT rounding off the top 10-rated models

Clean sweep in survey’s top three for build quality for NX, and second and third generation RX

Four Lexus models in the top 10 “best cars to own”

Survey based on the real-world experiences of almost 50,000 motorists

London, United Kingdom - Lexus has achieved unprecedented success in Auto Express’s search for the UK’s most reliable cars. The results of the 2016 Driver Power survey see the third generation RX luxury SUV achieving the highest rating, narrowly ahead of the current IS saloon.

A top-three clean-sweep was only prevented by the achievement of the Toyota Land Cruiser in third place, shading out the current Lexus GS saloon. To complete the emphatic performance, the NX crossover and CT premium hatchback rounded off the survey’s top 10 models.

In fact every Lexus model eligible for the survey is featured. The absence of the RC coupe (only recently launched) and the LS limousine is that they have not achieved the sales volumes required for inclusion.

Auto Express declared Lexus has “smashed” the survey, which brings together the real-world experiences and opinions of almost 50,000 motorists. Announcing the results, it said: “A new Lexus RX was launched in 2015, but given the Japanese marque’s formidable performance, who would bet against the new version repeating the success of its predecessor, which tops our reliability chart this year.”

Turning to the IS, it describes how the car “doesn’t take any prisoners when it comes to reliability,” an area where it has “forged a reputation for excellence”. The GS is praised for its “luxuriously appointed and high-spec’ interior” and the NX is recognised for adding excellent reliability to the qualities that it shares with its larger RX sister model.

Ewan Shepherd, Lexus Director, said: “We strive to give our customers complete peace of mind when it comes to being able to rely on their car, day in, day out. Their level of satisfaction is clearly communicated in this extraordinary survey result, vindicating everything we do to deliver the highest quality in all our models.

“It is also significant that their opinions are in the great majority based on their experiences with our hybrid technology, confirming yet again the lasting quality and trustworthy performance of Lexus Hybrid Drive.”

Lexus also performed strongly in other Driver Power categories, notably posting a one-two-three for build quality with the NX and second and third generation RX models. In the “best car to own” results, which take in performance across all survey criteria, Lexus claimed four of the top 10 places with the IS (the top-rated car in 2015) in fourth, GS in fifth, third generation RX in sixth and second generation RX in 10th.

And if you want to know which car has the comfiest seats, the survey reveals that honour, too, goes to the third generation Lexus RX.

tag,Awards,IS 300h,IS 200t,hybrid,RX 200t,RX 350,RX 350h,GS 200t,GS 300h,GS 350,GS 450h,GS F,CT 200h,NX 200t,NX 300h,2016 GS,2016 RX,2014 CT,2015 NX,2016 IS

True to the nature of all F models, the GS F reinforces the dynamic and emotional character of the Lexus brand.

F stands for Fuji Speedway… the spiritual home of the F products where each model is developed and tested. The F brand debuted its first model, the IS F sedan, in 2008 followed by the LFA in 2009 and the RC F in 2014.

The new performance sedan, GS F, is armed with a potent 477PS 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 and excellent handling that was developed on the most demanding circuits, including the legendary Nürburgring.

Its elegant-yet-aggressive styling direction effectively characterizes the essence of Lexus' performance-oriented F brand. It is highlighted by an aggressive-looking front fascia with race-inspired functional air inlets, low-slung wide stance, large brake calipers, carbon-fibre rear spoiler and quad exhaust rear diffuser. While it's more than capable of taking on a twisty mountain road, the GS F is still a sedan that's ideal for everyday use. It seats five comfortably in a luxuriously-appointed cabin filled with high-tech amenities and advanced safety technologies, including the innovative Lexus Safety System +.

The GS F offers enthusiasts the best of all worlds: It's a car that will provide thrills and excitement on challenging switchbacks, while being able to take you there and back in unprecedented style and comfort.

"As Lexus' F brand vehicles continue to evolve and grow in number, it is important that these models offer differentiated and unique driving characteristics in their segments. The GS F is a very capable performance sedan that offers excitement behind the wheel in all facets of performance driving. It's something that's fun to drive no matter who is driving or where it's being driven. The sedan embraces the virtues of sound, response and limitless power feel to support Lexus' F brand identity of a performance car.," said Yukihiko Yaguchi, the Emeritus Chief Engineer of GS F.

lexus,2016 GS,GS F

• Normally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine producing maximum power of 477PS and maximum torque of 530Nm

• A combination of Otto and Atkinson combustion cycles for maximum power and efficiency

• Structural reinforcements and dynamically tuned suspension for high-speed stability and sports car-like agility

• Innovating Torque Vectoring Differential ensuring optimal handling

• Comprehensive Lexus Safety System +

DETROIT, USA (January 13, 2015) — High performance, four doors and enough cabin space to comfortably accommodate five adults. Previously, the few cars in the world that possessed these traits usually came with a distinctly Teutonic nomenclature, but not anymore. Today, Lexus has joined the ranks of the super sports sedan-maker with the introduction of the GS F at the North American International Auto Show.

The much-anticipated GS F sports sedan, which combines the opulence of a leading luxury saloon with the performance of a sports coupe, is the latest vehicle to join the company's high-performance "F" line that already includes notable examples such as the RC F. Based on the mid-size GS luxury sedan, the GS F breaks new ground for Lexus as the largest vehicle ever offered with an "F" badge.

"The cars with the 'F' designation are meant to generate a very positive feeling when you're behind its steering wheel, to be something that's fun to drive no matter who is driving or where it's being driven. With the GS F, we wanted to make a special car that not only would exceed the expectations of the most discerning driving enthusiast, but also something that all people can enjoy. In that way, the GS F embraces the virtues sound, response and power, the cornerstones of the Lexus 'F' brand," Yukihiko Yaguchi, the chief engineer of the GS F, said.

A Powerful V8 and sporty 8-speed gearbox

Under the hood will be a fire-breathing normally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 that produces a remarkable 477PS and peak torque in excess of 530Nm. The powerplant will be mated to a lightning quick 8-speed automatic gearbox with manual-shifting capabilities and four different modes: Normal, Eco, SPORT S and SPORT S+, the latter designed specifically for the racetrack. With the GS F tipping the scales at a class-leading 1830 kg, the acceleration of the new rear-wheel-drive sedan will be similar to a sports coupe, while its top speed should give some racecars a run for their money. As powerful as the engine is, the DOHC 32-valve powerplant is also fuel efficient, incorporating the Atkinson cycle when the car is driven in a civil manner.

Handling Honed on the Famed Nürburgring

The GS F will feature structural reinforcements and an exclusively designed suspension system to match the car's added power. The newest member of the "F" line boasts remarkable sports-car-like handling, which was honed not only in circuit in Japan but also perfected on the famous Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in Germany. The car's custom taut suspension, along with larger tyres (255/35-19 front, and 275/35-19 rear) and an upgraded braking system, complete with bright orange calipers, combine to give the GS F remarkable high-speed stability and the agility of a nimble sports car. Those items provide near-neutral handling balance through most every kind of corner.

Lexus' innovative Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD), also found in the RC F, will be part of a long line of standard equipment that'll make the GS F's performance stand out from the crowd. The TVD features three operating modes:

• Standard (default), providing a balance of agility and firmness;

• Slalom, emphasising nimble steering response and agility;

• Track, which enhances stability during high-speed circuit driving.

Distinctive Styling That Defines "Form Follows Function"

The GS F features an enlarged, and more pronounced version of Lexus' trademark "spindle" grille, with a distinctive mesh pattern reserved for F models, and large gaping air vents that have been flawlessly integrated into the front fascia. Slim canted headlights with the signature Lexus "L-shaped" DRL complete the car's elegant-yet-sporty face. The GS F sits noticeably lower and wider than other GS models, resulting in an aggressive stance that, along with its front fender air outlets and sporty 19'' alloy wheels, make it instantly recognisable as an F. The rear is highlighted by a subtle carbon-fibre rear spoiler and "trapezoidal tailpipes," with four chrome exhaust tips, that powerfully suggest that this car is meant to be driven hard.

Inside the sheet metal, the GS F's cabin has been spiced up. It is styled in an elegant form-follows-function theme, with all controls placed within easy reach of the driver. Residing behind the exclusive "F" sport steering wheel, is a new electronic instrument cluster that can be configured between four different displays, depending on your preferred driving style: Normal, Eco, SPORT S and SPORT S+. Also, custom front and rear seats have been implemented to provide the vehicle's occupants with more lateral support while not sacrificing comfort.

Despite all the sporty touches, the GS F retains a luxurious feel, thanks partly to the high-grade Alcantara on the door trims, centre console and above the instrument panel. An analogue clock adds a touch of class to the already elegant dashboard that features a central video monitor operated by a Remote control on the centre console. The GS F can be equipped with a premium 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system that will satisfy the most demanding of audiophiles, but when you want to listen to the music provided by the engine, simply activate the Active Sound Control by putting the drive system into "SPORT S" or "SPORT S+." The Active Control System, similar to the one found in the RC F but better because it also utilizes the speakers at the rear seats, enhances the vehicle's robust exhaust note for all the GS F's occupants to enjoy, perfectly complimenting the sporty driving experience.

"Fun to drive. It's what characterises all cars wearing the F badge, and it was our intent to design the GS F to exude that character. The styling philosophy of the GS F is one of 'form following function'. For example, the GS F's spindle grille was born to further improve the car's aerodynamics and internal cooling, while the air outlets in the front fenders, first applied on the IS F and then the RC F, have been adopted in the GS F because of their efficiency. The styling direction of the GS F is one that promotes Lexus' commitment to 'Progressive Luxury,' and I feel this car conveys that brand message flawlessly," Yoshiharu Nakajima, the Project Chief Designer of the Lexus Design Division, said.

Adoption of the new comprehensive safety package, Lexus Safety System+

Employing the millimetre wave radar and camera system to detect cars and pedestrians in front, Lexus vehicles, including the GS F, will come with a multi-functional safety package which includes Pre-Crash System (PCS) that provides alerts, brake assist and automatic braking for collision-avoidance support and reduction of collision damage if it should happen. Also included are: Lane Departure Alert (LDA) to warn the driver in case of an unintended lane departure and Adaptive High Beam System (AHS) for improved night time vision.

• Normally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine producing maximum power of 473PS and maximum torque of 527Nm

• A combination of Otto and Atkinson combustion cycles for maximum power and efficiency

• Innovating Torque Vectoring Differential ensuring optimal handling

Lexus is yet again showing its sporty disposition and has announced the much-anticipated GS F performance sedan will be revealed at the North American International Auto Show on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 8:40 am EST (14:40 CET) in the Lexus display at Cobo Centre in Detroit. The GS F will be the latest vehicle to join Lexus' high-performance "F" line that already includes the RC F coupe. The new addition combines a refined four-door package with the speed and agility of a premium sports car.

Although the new GS F shares the same platform as the standard GS there are enhancements throughout, including to its engine. Under the hood will be a responsive, normally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 that produces a remarkable 473PS (348kW)* at 7,100 rpm and peak torque of 527 Nm* at 4,800-5,600rpm. This sophisticated engine uses both Otto and Atkinson combustion cycles to maximise power and efficiency in given situations. Befitting the nature of this high performance sedan, the engine will be mated to an extremely responsive eight-speed automatic gearbox with manual-shifting capabilities.

Lexus' innovative Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD), also found in the RC F, will be part of a long line of standard equipment that will make the GS F's handling stand out from the crowd. The TVD features three operating modes:

· Standard (default) provides a balance of agility and firmness;

· Slalom emphasises nimble steering response and agility; and

· Track emphasises stability during high-speed circuit driving.

The GS F monocoque will also feature structural reinforcements and suspension exclusively designed to optimize this super sedan's handling envelope without detracting from its ride quality. Drivers will appreciate the GS F's stability and smoothness on the open highway as well as the sedan's ability to devour challenging roads, whether they're winding up the side of a mountain or at a racetrack. The new GSF will offer drivers a very balanced sedan with genuine dual personality, equally adept at trimming lap times and the commute back home.

With its weight of only 1,830kg the new GS F will be the lightest among its competitors.
