LEXUS REFLECTS ON ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR AS OFFICIAL CAR OF THE VENICE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

The 79th Venice International Film Festival – La Biennale di Venezia – reached its conclusion on Saturday (September 10) with the presentation of the famous Golden Lion award for best film, won this year by the feature “All the beauty and the bloodshed”, directed by Laura Poitras.

The ceremony marked the conclusion of a sixth consecutive year for Lexus as the Official Car of the festival. During the past 11 days, Lexus has had the honour of transporting some of the greatest and most influential figures in word cinema to and from red carpet screenings and receptions, including Julianne Moore, Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Timothée Chalamet and Harry Styles. This provided a global stage for “star” models from the Lexus Electrified range, from the all-electric UX 300e crossover to the refined ES sedan and the acclaimed NX plug-in hybrid.

In addition, between screenings, the Palazzo del Cinema at the Venice Lido shone the spotlight on the all-new Lexus RX luxury large SUV, which was making its public debut in Italy ahead of its European market launch later this year.

Lexus’ continued support for the festival reinforced the common mission it has with the world of cinema to offer people unique, amazing and memorable experiences. The brand also has an enduring bond with the city of Venice, sharing its values of people and sustainability.

LEXUS TAKES ON MISSION TO SAVE THE WORLD IN “MOONFALL”

Buckle up and brace yourself for the ride of a lifetime. Lexus is taking on yet another exciting role as the official automotive partner of Moonfall, an epic new science fiction disaster film from internationally renowned director Roland Emmerich, to be released in cinemas worldwide in February 2022.

In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. The all-new Lexus NX plays a pivotal role in the heroic effort to restore order to the Moon’s orbit on a mission to save the world.

The Lexus x Moonfall marketing campaign features a co-branded 30-second advert, “Enjoy the Ride”, featuring the NX in high-action footage from the film. The campaign can be viewed here.

The NX’s bold styling, intuitive technology and connected driving feel make it the perfect partner for this epic adventure. The second generation of Lexus’ luxury SUV, which is currently launched across Europe, opens the next chapter for the Lexus brand. It heralds new directions in exterior and cabin design, new powertrains, including Lexus’ first plug-in hybrid electric, new connected and safety technologies, and a leap forward in dynamic performance that delivers a greater and more rewarding connection between driver and machine.

The Lexus brand is featured prominently throughout the film. The all-new NX is driven by Charlie Plummer’s character, Sonny Harper, in a three-minute, high-action scene. The Lexus GX luxury SUV makes an appearance as the government vehicle used to transport Halle Berry’s character, Jo Fowler. Additionally, Michael Peña’s character, Tom Lopez, is a Lexus dealer, and the film includes a scene at his dealership.

The Lexus x Moonfall campaign will be promoted across video, digital and social channels.

A cast of luxury SUVs, sedans, coupes and cabriolets swap road for red carpet as “La Biennale di Venezia” International Film Festival opens at the Venice Lido. For the fifth consecutive year, Lexus is the Official Car of the festival, whose 78th edition runs from September 1st - 11th, 2021.

35 cars, comprising the entire Lexus electrified SUV range, will accompany actors, directors and well-known celebrities over the course of the festival. Alongside the all-new NX, the UX, RX, ES sedan and LC coupe will assume starring roles, flanked by the sophisticated LC Convertible and the UX 300e, Lexus' first fully electric car.

A SHARED PASSION FOR UNFORTETTABLE EXPERIENCES

Against the stunning backdrop of the Lido, stars of the big screen will on arrive on the red carpet in various Lexus models for the opening ceremony at Sala Grande where the famous Italian actor Roberto Benigni will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. Lexus' passion for the "seventh art" will be told through the eyes and experiences of Lexus Brand Ambassador Edoardo Leo, the acclaimed actor, director, and screenwriter, who will explain how qualities that make cinema unique are mirrored in the values of the Lexus brand.

The partnership between the magic of cinema and Lexus is forged by a shared desire to create truly unique and unforgettable emotional experiences, through elements that are sometimes imperceptible, but which define the distinctive character of the final product: attention to detail, craftsmanship, innovation and vision.

ALL-NEW NX LUXURY MID-SIZE SUV

This character is embodied in the all-new NX luxury mid-size SUV, making its debut at the festival. The NX expands Lexus' vision of electrification through advanced new plug-in technology delivering the highest levels of performance and efficiency, while its striking exterior and interior. Not least, the distinctive new Tazuna cockpit reflects the human-centred philosophy that lies at the heart of Lexus design.

The new NX also offers a next-generation multimedia and connectivity system alongside leading-edge technologies for greater safety, comfort and convenience. Heralding a new chapter in Lexus history, it replaces a highly successful model which amassed sales of over 175,000 in Europe.

LEXUS SUPPORTING THE ARTS

Edoardo Leo will also highlight the collaborative work which Lexus has engaged in to help the entertainment sector. Following an acutely difficult period for the arts, Lexus is supporting "Poltrone Rosse", a crowdfunding initiative with UNITA, the National Union of Theatre and Audiovisual Interpreters, to assist performers, especially women during pregnancy. The initiative will see rows of red armchairs placed in the squares of 5 Italian cities (including Venice during the Biennale Cinema 2021), where actors can sit alongside film fans and tell of their passion for the big screen, with proceeds going to projects conducted with UNITA.

LEXUS IS THE MAIN SPONSOR OF THE 75TH VENICE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

For the second consecutive year, Lexus is the Main Sponsor of the 75th Venice International Film Festival , which will take place at Venice Lido from August 29th to September 8th 2018.

The Lexus ES 300h self-charging hybrid will make its Italian debut on the red carpet, accompanying actors, directors and other celebrities, while the new Lexus UX 250h self-charging hybrid will be displayed outside the Lexus Lounge Lido set up at the Terrazza Biennale.

A fleet of 40 Lexus self-charging hybrid vehicles will be available throughout the event. Besides the all-new ES, the line-up will include the NX and RX SUVs, as well as the LS flagship sedan and the LC flagship luxury coupe.

Lexus main sponsor of the 74th Venice International Film Festival

For the first time, Lexus will be a main sponsor of this year’s International Venice Festival that will be held on the Lido di Venezia from August 30 to September 9. Being a partner to one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals is a new illustration of Lexus’ ongoing commitment to cinema – as highlighted by the Lexus Short Films programme and the recent collaboration with Luc Besson’s science fiction blockbuster ‘Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets’.

The heart of the brand’s presence at the Venice Festival will be the Lexus Lounge set up on the Biennale Terrace, where the two flagship models, the LC coupe and the LS sedan, will be displayed. Furthermore, an all-hybrid fleet of 40 vehicles will be provided for VIP and guests transfers during the festival.

The President of the Jury, the actress Annette Bening, will arrive at the festival on board of the brand new LS 500h hybrid.
