Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Lexus!

We have some exciting product news for you today, but let me start by a quick update on our current

sales momentum.

2015 has been a tremendous year so far for Lexus. In Europe, our growth year to date is 4 times

bigger than the premium car market. And that growth is coming from all across Europe - East and

West. In the West, the demand and desirability for the Lexus brand has never been higher and if we

focus on our 5 largest markets in Western Europe, our year on year sales increase is close to 50%.

This growth rate is 5 times higher than the market. We are equally pleased with our performance in

the East. In Russia, for example, Lexus sales are increasing by 15% this year … in a premium market

decreasing by more than 20%.

This puts us well on track to exceed our European objective of 60,000. Clearly, a new record for

Lexus in the region. Globally, we are also on our way to reach a new best ever sales performance with

about 10% growth vs. 2014. With this, we consolidate our position of first challenger of the German 3.

Not bad for a brand that's just 26 years young!

---

NX has managed to capture the hearts of Luxury consumers across Europe, attracting a younger,

trendier audience to the brand. As a result, well over half the sales of NX are to first time Lexus

customers - and we expect that to continue to grow. In less than a year, we have already delivered

more than 100,000 NX globally. Europe represents a quarter of that volume.

NX has also helped us to enhance and sharpen the image of the Lexus brand. Our collaboration with

will.i.am has played a pivotal role. The latest chapter of that collaboration was an unprecedented

sound and light installation in which we brought a popular musical video game to life. It took an airport

runway to do it but it was a spectacle unlike any other. One that could literally be seen from outer

space.

Like 25 million other people, I guess most of you have followed our Hoverboard story… A levitating

skateboard. Like me, many people dreamed about it…. Lexus made it possible! This is the spirit of

Lexus today… We like to explore, to anticipate and challenge the conventional. And I can promise you

that we are only getting started.

---

All of these activities would be less impactful if we did not have amazing products… and the next

months will be extremely busy on that front.

We will launch no less than 5 models in the next 4 months! Let me start with the restyled GS with even

striking looks, more comfort and our new safety package. We also welcome an new member to our

F family. The GS F, our new performance sedan - the lightest car in its class - and with the

incomparable sound that only a naturally aspirated V8 can deliver. And speaking of good looks, our

next launch is the RC, our brand new coupé, available in Western Europe with two powertrains,

hybrid and 2L turbo. In the East, we will also introduce a refreshed ES.

</pp:summary>

The 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show will showcase the European Premiere of the fourth generation RX. As the best-selling model in the brand's 26-year history—with sales of circa 2.2 million units—the RX represents three out of ten vehicles ever sold by Lexus.

The all-new RX's mix of sharp creases and curves represents a bold evolution in the model's styling, sharing the same design DNA with other recently-launched models in the Lexus line-up.

The RX interior reflects an impeccable balance of functionality and luxury. The redesigned interior offers a sense of spaciousness with intimacy that proves ideal for driver and passenger comfort alike.

Moreover, the RX is equipped with advanced redesigned hybrid and petrol powertrains, sophisticated safety technologies/driver aids that include the innovative Lexus Safety System+, and new convenience and technology features to make this the best Lexus sport-utility vehicle offering to date.

An important addition to the GS line-up, the GS 200t, will also make its European premiere. The new-comer is equipped with a smooth 2.0l turbo petrol engine teamed with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also new on the GS range, is the redesigned front end with standard Bi-LED headlamps.

Finally, new bespoke, stylish design features will underline the sporty character of the CT and IS. This is thanks to a new accessible Sport grade, available in Europe as from September and on display during the show.

The Lexus Press Conference will take place on September 15, at 13:00 at the Lexus stand in Hall 8 Stand C19.

The jury — a panel of 280 fleet managers - tested no less 71 vehicles in 11 categories. They performed about 2,000 comparative test drives and drove over 50,000 kilometres in total.

The third generation Lexus IS seduced the jury not only by its bold design, impressive building quality and comfort but also thanks to its dynamic performance and low cost of ownership. These two criteria have played an important role in the allocation of the award to the IS.

The new IS 300h is equipped with the second generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system, which returns class-leading CO2 emissions as from 99 g/km. The IS' full hybrid drive system combines a powerful 105 kW/143 DIN hp electric motor with a newly developed, 2.5 litre, 133 kW/181 DIN hp for a total system power of 164 kW/223 DIN hp.

The new Lexus IS achieved a maximum five-star rating, scoring 91% for Adult Occupant, 85% for Child Occupant, 80% for Pedestrian Protection and 66% for Safety Assist. These figures are well above the minimum required to achieve five stars.

Each year, Euro NCAP identifies the models that have achieved the highest test scores in their respective classes. In 2013, a total of 33 cars were tested in 7 different categories. 'Best in Class' winners are vehicles which have achieved the highest overall scores, calculated from the results in adult, child and pedestrian protection, and safety assist tests.

New interior design with LFA-inspired, driver-focused cockpit and significant increases in rear seat space and luggage capacity for best-in-class roominess.

Ergonomically ideal interaction with touch-sensitive switchgear and state-of-the-art Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology.

Choice of powertrains - 2.5 litre V6 petrol engined IS 250 and the IS 300h: the first IS model to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive.

Comprehensively enhanced driving dynamics engineered to offer the most engaging, entertaining driving experience in its segment.

New F SPORT package available across the entire model range - unique exterior and interior design features, and dynamic enhancements.

Powerful multimedia systems with multiple connectivity options and Lexus Connected Services including real-time traffic and parking navigation as standard.

Advanced safety systems including new Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Auto Location Tire Pressure Warning System (AL-TPWS).

Unmatchable cost of ownership with low maintenance and running costs, significant tax incentives and high residual values.

Boldest yet L-Finesse Design

At 4,665 mm overall, the all-new IS is 80 mm longer and 10 mm wider than its predecessor. The front overhang has increased by just 10 mm, and the wheelbase has been extended by 70 mm to 2,800 mm.

Following the next-generation GS, ES and LS models, the new IS features the sophisticated dynamism of the new Lexus spindle grille frontal design, awarding the compact sedan a combination of aggressive elegance, a more powerful road presence and a stronger brand identity.

The new Lexus' tight, sporting proportions are emphasised by a rising belt line which tightens to the rear of the vehicle. This not only clearly delineates the body from the cabin, but also emphasises the wide flare of the wheel arches to give the new IS a broad, powerful stance.

In profile, the strong beltline creates the impression of larger rear tires and a lowered centre of gravity. The mass of the cabin appears to be concentrated rearwards, applying visual weight to the rear tires to enhance the perception of traction.

A rising crease line flowing from the lower body, through the rear wheel arch and into the rear lamp clusters adds further dynamism to the sweeping elegance of the sedan's sporting profile.

The exterior design incorporates several Lexus firsts, including a new, powerfully articulated headlamp cluster design with Lexus trademark, arrowhead Daytime Running Lights (DRL) located independently below, and a newly developed pop-up hood design which allows for the lowest possible vehicle front profile whilst optimising pedestrian impact protection.

The clean, elegant coupe-like lines of the new IS are further enhanced by two additional Lexus firsts; a rear wheel arch hemming treatment which allows the tyre to be placed further outboard and closer to the wheel arch, and a laser-brazed roof structure which joins the roof and side members without the need for a roof drip moulding.

Intuitive Ergonomics & Refined Comfort

The IS's all-new interior design offers drivers a focused, ergonomically ideal environment from within which to fully exploit the new Lexus sedan's superb driving dynamics.

The snug, wrap-around driving position has been inspired by the cockpit of Lexus' race-bred LFA supercar.

LFA-style features include a sports steering wheel trimmed in tactile, high-grip perforated leather, and, a Lexus first, highly supportive sports seat design using an "integrated foaming" construction method which eliminates gaps between the upholstery and the foam padding to combine excellent comfort with outstanding lateral holding performance.

The seat hip point has been lowered by 20 mm, the angle of the new, 3-spoke, 370 mm diameter steering wheel has been lowered 3 degrees, and steering reach adjustment has been increased by 23 mm, creating a more sporting driving position.

With 50 mm of its 70 mm longer wheelbase dedicated to increased rear seat space and 20 mm dedicated to increased luggage capacity, the new 60:40 split/folding rear seats offer occupants significantly greater levels of comfort and a 50% increase in legroom for class-leading roominess.

The combination of extended wheelbase and a thinner front seat design generates an 85 mm increase in rear seat knee room. And a 20 mm increase in the gap between the B pillar and the front corner of the rear seat improves accessibility.

The new IS 300h is also the first Lexus full hybrid to install the battery beneath the luggage deck board, offering a 450 litre compartment capacity on a par with that of petrol engine models.

Throughout the interior, high quality materials and finishes convey contemporary, premium look and feel, with a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail for which Lexus is global renowned. Soft touch finishes abound, including knee pads either side of the centre console for increased driver and front passenger comfort.

The dashboard is divided into two zones: An upper display zone locates the 7" LCD multi-display screen at an ideal distance for at-a-glance viewing, while a lower operation zone allows access to system controls such as the second generation of Lexus' Remote Touch Interface (RTI).

Intuitive, ergonomically ideal interaction with the vehicle's instrumentation, switchgear and Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology is fundamental to the sporting IS driving experience.

The control panel incorporates touch-sensitive, electrostatic switches to control the dual-zone air conditioning temperature. Sliding a finger up or down the bar shaped switch allows for temperature adjustment in 0.5 degree Centigrade increments.

Powertrains - with Lexus Hybrid Drive

Two rear-wheel drive versions of the new IS will be available in Europe; the 2.5 litre V6 petrol engined IS 250 and the IS 300h: the first IS model to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive.

Reinforcing Lexus' commitment to the future of full hybrid drive technology, the new IS 300h is equipped with a second generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system, which offers significant reductions in fuel consumption and CO2, NOx and particulate (PM) emissions, with no loss of performance.

The full hybrid drive system combines a powerful 105 kW/143 DIN hp electric motor with a newly developed, 2.5 litre, 133 kW/181 DIN hp, four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine featuring a next generation D-4S direct fuel injection system, Dual VVT-i and a high-efficiency Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system.

With the rear wheels driven through the hybrid system's Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT), total system power is 164 kW/223 DIN hp. The new IS 300h has a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.3 seconds, will accelerate from 80 to 120 km/h in only 6.2 seconds, and has a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

Conversely, the new Lexus full hybrid returns an average fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100 km, and class-leading CO2 emissions from 99 g/km.

The location of the hybrid battery beneath the loadspace deck board —a Lexus first- gives the new IS 300h a perfect, 50:50 weight distribution. To fully exploit the dynamic potential of this ideal balance, the E-CVT may be switched to a sequential shiftmatic mode operated via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The transmission has been tuned to more closely match engine speed increases in line with the speed increases of the vehicle itself, offering drivers a more engaging driving experience.

The driving experience is further enhanced through the adoption of another Lexus first, Active Sound Control (ASC); a new technology that compliments the engine sound with audio sound through a dedicated loudspeaker.

The IS 250's 24 valve, 2,500 cc V6 petrol engine features D-4 direct injection, and Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) to both intake and exhaust camshafts, enhancing engine performance. It develops 153 kW/208 DIN hp at 6,400 rpm and 252 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, accelerating the IS 250 from 0-100km/h in 8.1 seconds and giving a maximum speed of 225 km/h. Fuel consumption is 8.6L/100km.

Breakthrough Driving Dynamics

Segment-leading driving enjoyment is at the heart of the new IS development programme, and every aspect of the new Lexus sedan's driving dynamics has been painstakingly engineered to that end.

New, laser screw welding and adhesive body bonding techniques, along with additional spot welding, have increased overall body rigidity. This not only enhances stability, but also allows for a more comfortable ride with no detriment to handling agility.

The new IS combines a revised double wishbone front suspension system with a new multilink rear system similar to that of the latest generation Lexus GS. Both systems have been fine tuned to match the driving feel of the new Lexus, combining improved ride comfort with outstanding grip performance and an agile response to steering inputs.

The front double wishbone system has been revised, offering a 20% increase in roll rigidity. To the rear, separate mounting of the multi-link system's spring and shock absorber maximises luggage space. Substantial revisions contribute to a 53% reduction in suspension friction, a 15% increase in tyre cornering grip and excellent stability.

Steering feel and feedback is key to an enjoyable driving experience, and the new IS benefits from a steering gear box based on that of the new GS. The structure and rigidity of the gear box has been revised to create a lighter, smoother, more accurate steering feel with enhanced response to input and greater feedback to the driver.

The new IS is equipped with a completely new ABS system offering enhanced brake control performance. Brake pedal feel has been improved, and the pedal angle itself changed to allow for smoother foot shifting to and from the accelerator pedal. Brake cooling performance has also been improved by the adoption of straighter brake ducts which provide an increase in cooling airflow volume.

A new Drive Mode Select system features up to five switchable driving modes- ECO, NORMAL, SPORT/SPORT S, SPORT S+ (available on F SPORT models equipped with AVS) and EV (available on IS 300h), to optimise the driver's preferred combination of economy, comfort, performance and handling characteristics.

F SPORT Package

IS F SPORT package models not only benefit from exclusive, more sporting and aggressive exterior and interior design features, but also genuine dynamic enhancements in the form of exclusively tuned front and rear suspension systems.

Externally, F SPORT models may be instantly recognised by a more aggressive spindle grille design with a more prominent chrome trim and an exclusive mesh design. The bottom corners of the front bumpers feature LED foglamps and aerodynamic detailing to provide both downforce and enhanced brake cooling. Unique 18" wheels feature a Y-spoke design which indentifies them with the LFA bloodline.

On board, F SPORT models inherit the Innovate driver's meter with moving centre ring from the LFA. A Lexus first, an exclusive seat design uses and 'integrated foaming' construction method, ensuring that there are no gaps between seat upholstery and filling to combine excellent comfort with outstanding lateral holding performance. Bespoke interior trim detailing includes an F SPORT steering wheel and shift knob, and aluminium pedals and scuff plates.

Both the front and rear suspension systems and the Electric Power Steering (EPS) are exclusively tuned for the F SPORT package, enhancing IS handling performance without detriment to ride quality.

An Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system is an option exclusive to F SPORT models. It allows the driver to fine tune the IS F SPORT's ride characteristics with a choice of two damper settings; NORMAL mode, for everyday driving comfort, and SPORT S+ mode, for improved body control and precise responses to steering input while cornering.

The IS 250 F SPORT also benefits from an intake sound generator which creates a more sporting engine note. The sound creator uses a damper that amplifies the vibration of the intake pulse and introduces it as a pleasing note into the cabin to heighten the sporting driving experience.

Rewarding Multimedia

Featuring improved switchgear and paddle shift ergonomics, the new steering wheel is the first on a Lexus to coordinate multimedia system control with both meter and 7" centre console displays.

All IS models are equipped with new, Lexus Media Display (LMD) or Remote Touch-controlled Lexus Premium Navigation multimedia systems. The latter boasts excellent USB, AUX, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

Through a collaboration with INRIX, the new IS model range marks the introduction of a navigation service, with both real-time traffic and parking services fitted as standard.

Offering detailed information on more than 42,000 car parks across Europe and continuously updated, INRIX Park will navigate drivers directly to the nearest entrance of the closest, least expensive available parking location to their destination. Real-time traffic-powered navigation offers drivers the fastest available route avoiding accidents, incidents, road closures and other traffic-causing delays.

Lexus Connected services also features two new Google link functions; Google Street View and Panoramio, a photo sharing service which enables the uploading of photos for viewing on the centre console screen. The IS may be equipped with a state-of-the-art Mark Levinson Premium Surround System, offering one of the finest in-car audio experiences available today. Mark Levinson has been working in exclusive collaboration with Lexus for the last 12 years, engineering systems for the specific acoustic qualities of each individual Lexus.

4 years have been spent ensuring that the IS's 12 channel, 835 Watt, 15-speaker system is perfectly mated to the IS cabin, delivering a purity of sound equivalent to that of a live, concert hall performance.

A new Auto Volume system automatically adjusts system volume for each song being played to ensure consistent volume levels and full audibility for even the quietest passages of music.

All 15 loudspeakers incorporate power-saving GreenEdgeTM technology, developing twice the volume for the same power consumption. GreenEdgeTM technology covers a wider frequency band than conventional systems, giving an enhanced dynamic range.

Advanced Safety Systems

Incorporating Lexus' unique Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system, the new IS builds on the already superior safety performance of the outgoing model with the addition of several, advanced new active safety features.

A sophisticated Pre-Collision System (PCS) offers drivers collision avoidance assistance. PCS features a millimetre-wave radar sensor, operating within a 20 degree scanning radius to detect obstacles in front of the car, even during cornering.

If there is a high possibility of a collision, PCS will alert the driver and, when he begins to brake, provide Pre-Collision Brake Assist to supplement his own braking effort. If the driver does not brake and a collision is inevitable, Pre-Collision Brake will automatically apply the brakes to reduce impact speed.

A Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) uses rear mounted radar to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes that are not visible in the outer door mirrors. An indicator light in the corresponding mirror alerts the driver when the presence of such a vehicle is detected.

A new Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system employs the BSM radar to alert the driver to approaching vehicles when backing out of a parking space.

An Automatic High Beam (AHB) headlamp system maximises visibility at night by automatically switching to low beams when its camera detects the lights of either an oncoming or preceding vehicle.

A Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system helps prevent unintended lane changes by alerting the driver when the vehicle deviates from its lane without the operation of the turn signal.

An Auto Location Tire Pressure Warning System (AL-TPWS) displays pressure values for each of the four tires via a display located within the driver's instrument binnacle. When low tire pressure is detected, AL-TPWS clearly indicates which of the four tires has low-pressure status.

A newly developed pop-up hood design creates space to absorb pedestrian impact force, allowing for the lowest possible vehicle front profile whilst optimising pedestrian impact protection.

The IS benefits from 8 SRS airbags; two-stage Dual Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) front airbags, both driver and front passenger SRS knee airbags, front and rear SRS side airbags, as well as full length SRS side curtain airbags.

Unmatchable Cost of Ownership

Through a unique combination of low maintenance and running costs, significant tax incentives or benefits, and high residual values, the full hybrid technology of the new Lexus IS 300h offers customers cost of ownership advantages unmatchable by 2.0 litre diesel rivals in the D-Premium sedan segment.

The IS 300h's Lexus Hybrid Drive system has been specifically engineered for outstanding durability and low maintenance.

The powertrain has been designed with no requirement for a clutch; the starter motor and alternator are integral to the hybrid system and require no servicing or replacement over the life of the vehicle; and the conventional timing belt has been replaced by a maintenance-free timing chain.

With no need to either service or replace these parts, IS 300h customers can, therefore, realise a saving of some 1,500 Euros —the component cost alone- over 100,000 km.

Lexus Hybrid Drive technology also has a positive impact on both brake and tyre wear. Over the course of 90,000 km, the IS 300h will require no disc replacement, just one set of new brake pads and only one new set of tyres; a saving over 2.0 litre diesel rivals of some 1,250 Euros in the cost of parts alone.

Rigorously assessed for performance and durability, and backed up by over 15 years of in-service experience, the full hybrid battery is designed to last the entire life of the car.

Combining this component longevity with reduced labour times during servicing, IS 300h maintenance costs over 100,000 km are expected to be amongst the lowest in the segment.

Producing best-in-class petrol CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km combined with superior, 4.3 l/100 km fuel efficiency, the IS 300h combines low running costs with significant tax incentives or benefits in many European countries, including France, Spain and UK.

Lexus Hybrid Drive has now established itself as extremely economical in terms of both consumption and depreciation. In recognition of this, the GS 450h has already won the 2013 Wertmeister Award (a collaboration between Auto Bild and Eurotax) for the lowest depreciation in its class, reinforcing the high levels of confidence customers place in Lexus full hybrid vehicles.

Initial CAP residual value forecasts award the new IS 300h a class-leading 38% in the UK.

lexus,2013 IS,2013 Frankfurt

The Lexus IS is the first vehicle to feature such a service as standard on its premium navigation multimedia system.

"Lexus drivers expect high performance luxury vehicles, capable of making smarter, more fuel- and time-efficient journeys, said Paul Van der Burgh, Director of Lexus Europe, adding: "Our aim is to provide Lexus drivers in Europe with a navigation system that smartly routes them around traffic and finds them the best place to park once they arrive at their destination."

"There's nothing more frustrating than owning one of the most advanced pieces of consumer design and engineering on the planet, only to find yourself stuck in traffic or circling the block looking for parking," said Bryan Mistele, president and CEO of INRIX. "We believe dynamic, data driven services in the connected car that can be updated similarly to how consumers update apps on their phone are integral to improving mobility for the world's 1 billion drivers."

Real-time parking SERVICE

INRIX Park goes beyond static parking points of interest (POIs) to provide Lexus IS owners with the benefit of navigating directly to the least expensive available parking location closest to their destination. The service provides pricing and other information for more than 42,000 car parks across Europe in a service that's continuously updated as more locations and car park details become available. Additionally, real-time information about the number of available parking spots is offered in a growing number of connected car parks in various European cities.

Experts estimate up to 12% of all urban traffic is created by people looking for parking[1]. In fact, a global survey of commuters in 20 international cities found that nearly six out of 10 drivers has abandoned their search for a parking space at least once and drivers often spend an average of nearly 20 minutes in pursuit of a coveted spot.[2]

Real-time traffic navigation

Drivers of the new Lexus IS will also enjoy real-time traffic powered navigation in most European countries. They will be guided to their destination through the fastest available route avoiding accidents, incidents, road closures and other traffic causing delays. This traffic service is also extended to secondary roads.

INRIX analyses data from a unique combination of sources including road sensor information, accident and incident information, weather, events and its own crowd-sourced network of millions of vehicles and devices to provide real-time traffic information. The company's traffic intelligence platform will provide updated information to Lexus drivers over digital broadcast every minute ensuring they are alerted to accidents and other incidents as soon as they occur.

These intuitive Lexus technologies are designed to combine optimum assistance with maximum occupant and pedestrian safety, offering drivers peace of mind and non-intrusive support with no loss of control or driving enjoyment.

In conjunction with improved cockpit ergonomics and numerous driver aids such as a rear view monitor and parking and hill start assistance, the new IS model range benefits from the addition of several, advanced new active safety features.

Active Safety

A sophisticated Pre-Collision System (PCS) offers drivers collision avoidance assistance.

PCS features a millimetre-wave radar sensor which detects obstacles in front of the car, even during cornering. PCS will provide Pre-Collision Brake Assist to supplement the driver's own braking effort and, if a collision is inevitable, Pre-Collision Brake will automatically apply the brakes to reduce impact speed.

A Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) uses rear mounted radar to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes that are not visible in the outer door mirrors, alerting the driver with an indicator light in the relevant mirror.

A Lexus first in Europe, a new Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system employs the BSM radar to alert the driver to approaching vehicles when backing out of a parking space.

An Auto Location Tire Pressure Warning System (AL-TPWS) displays pressure values for each of the four tires. When low tire pressure is detected, AL-TPWS clearly indicates which of the four tires has low-pressure status.

Lexus' unique, state-of-the-art Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system integrates the IS's Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction Control (TRC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) active safety systems with the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) to enhance performance, traction control and vehicle stability.

Passive Safety

Reflecting the stringent car-to-car impact compatibility standards unique to the Lexus marque, the new IS has been created with the express aim of achieving class-leading safety in full-frontal, offset, side-on and rear collisions.

The comprehensive use of high- and ultra-high-tensile steel within the body structure optimally transfers and disperses impact load, minimising cabin deformation during a collision and maintaining space for the occupants.

A newly developed pop-up hood design creates space to absorb pedestrian impact force, allowing for the lowest possible vehicle front profile whilst optimising pedestrian impact protection.

The IS benefits from 8 SRS airbags; two-stage Dual Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) front airbags, both driver and front passenger SRS knee airbags, front and rear SRS side airbags, as well as full length SRS side curtain airbags.

lexus,2013 IS

<pp:caseid>255219</pp:caseid>

The new Lexus IS may be equipped with a state-of-the-art Mark Levinson Premium Surround System, offering one of the finest in-car audio experiences available today.

Mark Levinson has worked in exclusive collaboration with Lexus for the last 12 years. This relationship was born because Mark Levinson engineers recognised that, only the uniquely quiet characteristics of a Lexus cabin could provide an appropriate backdrop to the astonishing levels of accuracy, clarity and realism essential to any Mark Levinson system.

With no formal contract ever having been signed, the relationship remains driven solely by a mutual desire for excellence.

The size, shape and lack of consistent surfaces within a car's cabin pose enormous problems for the successful creation of high end audio. But a Mark Levinson sound system is not added to a Lexus, it is built-in as part of the vehicle design. Engineering a system for the specific acoustic qualities of any individual Lexus is a collaborative process that can take up to 20,000 hours.

Hence, the cabin's shape, materials and placing of the audio components are all optimised during the vehicle design process, ensuring that every loudspeaker is configured precisely to the car, creating multiple sweet spots to cater for multiple occupancy (not merely the driver) and perfect surround sound.

This uncompromising approach to high fidelity automotive audio systems is combined with cutting-edge technologies and highest quality components.

4 years in development, the Mark Levinson Premium Surround System creates sound based on the concepts of Effortless Dynamics and Effortless Transient Response, which combine natural dynamics with high response and tracking performance to deliver sound quality equivalent to that of a live, concert hall performance.

Using the same technologies as those found in top-end home audio systems, it features a 12 channel fully digital Class-D amplifier generating a total of 835 Watts through 15 GreenEdge high-efficiency loudspeakers. A Lexus first, a new Auto Volume system automatically adjusts system volume for each song being played to ensure consistent volume levels and full audibility for even the quietest passages of music.

Developing twice the volume for the same power consumption, GreenEdge power-saving technology has been incorporated into each of the 15 speakers. GreenEdge technology covers a wider frequency band than conventional systems, giving an enhanced dynamic range.

The new Mark Levinson system features three, newly-developed, 90 mm GreenEdge speakers mounted at the front of the cabin, with Unity technology which integrates mid- and high-range units within the same structure. To the rear, two further 90 mm GreenEdge units feature new, Wide Dispersion technology, with built-in acoustic lenses to disperse the sound more evenly throughout the cabin. In combination, these 5 speakers give consistent timbre for both front and rear seat occupants, resulting in a whole new level of surround sound, definition, atmosphere and quality.

A new, 200 mm GreenEdge subwoofer features the latest Inverted Motor Structure technology, in which the magnetic circuit is mounted in an inverted position, significantly reducing the depth of the unit with no loss of power or acoustic performance, while offering significant space savings in system packaging.

Driving dynamics the highest priority for new IS development

The all-new Lexus IS Line has accumulated over 1.6 million kilometres of testing and development - enough for two return trips to the moon.

At the heart of the IS development process was the desire to ensure that all IS models maintained their outstanding dynamic capabilities while increasing overall space and comfort.

Testing of the all-new IS took place on the road, track and laboratory with the IS tested to breaking point in the ice and snow of the southern hemisphere, the heat of the northern hemisphere, along with the gruelling test bed of circuits such as the Nürburgring in Germany and Fuji Speedway in Japan.

Key to attaining the "fun to drive" characteristics of the new IS was a new development process that saw driving dynamics prioritised over all other functions, explained IS Chief Engineer Junichi Furuyama.

"The conventional approach to development would involve developing each of the individual aspects with 'Fun to Drive' as the outcome, much like a pyramid would be built by first constructing the foundation and then proceeding to build up from there," he said.

"The problem with this approach is that there is no knowing whether it will result in achieving the targeted driving experience. In contrast, development of the new IS flipped this process on its head. It called for first establishing the pleasurable driving experience users will sense as the peak of the pyramid, and then developing the individual performance elements to support it," Mr Furuyama said.

The process resulted in the adoption of new body strengthening techniques, including laser screw weld and body bonding (25 metres of which is contained in the new IS), and a suspension system that delivers a 20 per cent increase in roll rigidity.

Due to be launched by mid-2013, the range includes the IS 300h — the first IS to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive — and the rear-wheel drive IS 250, as well as a further evolution of the F SPORT package, available for both models.EUROPEAN PREMIERE OF THE ALL-NEW LEXUS IS

The all-new Lexus IS model range makes its European debut at the 2013 Geneva motor show. Due to be launched by mid-2013, the range includes the IS 300h — the first IS to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive — and the rear-wheel drive IS 250, as well as a further evolution of the F SPORT package, available for both models.

Driving performance is considered the single most important element of sport sedan ownership by D-premium segment customers. In conjunction with a dramatic new design featuring the Lexus spindle grille, the new IS has been engineered to provide outstanding dynamic capabilities and driving experience.

'We adopted an entirely different approach to the development of the new IS' said Junichi Furuyama, IS Chief Engineer. 'Rather than developing each individual aspect in the hope that they will combine to offer an engaging driving experience, we first established the pleasurable driving experience owners desire as our major premise, and then we developed the individual performance elements to support it.'

'Every aspect of the new IS has been engineered with a renewed focus on the sporting performance, agile handling, accurate response to driver input and highly communicative feedback.'

The new IS also showcases an all-new interior that combines all the refinement and quality expected of any Lexus, with a more sporting, focused driver's environment, a significant improvement in rear seat space for best-in-class roominess, and a larger, more convenient luggage compartment.

A RESOLUTE LOOK

The dramatic design, sleek surfacing and tight, sporting proportions of the all-new IS perfectly reflect the significant advances made to the dynamic capabilities and driving performance of the Lexus premium compact sedan.

At 4,665 mm overall, the new IS is 80 mm longer and 10 mm wider than its predecessor. The front overhang has increased by just 10 mm, and the wheelbase has been extended by 70 mm to 2,800 mm.

Following the new generation GS, ES and LS models, the all-new IS features the sophisticated dynamism of the Lexus spindle grille frontal design, awarding the compact sedan a combination of aggressive elegance, a more powerful road presence and a stronger brand identity.

Beneath a new pop-up hood design which allows for the lowest possible vehicle front profile whilst optimising pedestrian impact protection, the grille is flanked by headlamp clusters clearly positioned on a higher plane than the grille itself.

The new, powerfully articulated headlamp is underscored by Lexus trademark L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) located independently below the cluster, giving the new IS a unique, highly distinctive visual signature.

In profile, the strong horizontal beltline creates the impression of larger rear tyres and a lowered centre of gravity. The mass of the cabin itself appears to be concentrated rearwards, visually applying weight to the rear tyres to enhance the perception of traction. A rising crease line flowing from the lower body, through the rear wheel arch and into the rear lamp clusters adds further dynamism to the sweeping elegance of the sedan's sporting profile.

The clean, elegant, coupe-like lines of the new IS are further enhanced by a rear wheel arch hemming treatment which gives the tyre greater prominence by allowing it to be placed 5 mm further outboard and closer to the wheel arch, and a laser-brazed roof structure which joins the roof and side members without the need for an unsightly roof drip moulding.

LIFE ON-BOARD

INTERIOR DESIGN

The clean, horizontal theme of the new IS interior design is bisected by the strong upward sweep of the centre console, creating a snug, focused, ergonomically ideal environment from within which the driver can fully exploit the new Lexus compact sedan's superb driving dynamics.

The newly designed, quilted driver's seat offers greater comfort and better lateral support. The seat hip point has been lowered by 20 mm. The new, LFA-inspired, 3-spoke, 370 mm diameter steering wheel features a new paddle shift switch shape for easier, more accurate operation, and improved ergonomics to the wheel-mounted switchgear.

The angle of the wheel has been lowered 3 degrees, and steering reach adjustment has been increased by 23 mm, creating a more sporting driving position.

With 50 mm of its 70 mm longer wheelbase dedicated to increased rear seat space and 20 mm dedicated to increased luggage capacity, the new, 10 mm wider IS offers rear seat occupants significantly increased levels of comfort. The combination of extended wheelbase and a thinner front seat design generates an 85 mm increase in knee room for the new, 60:40 split/folding seats. And a 20 mm increase in the gap between the B pillar and the front corner of the seat improves accessibility.

Throughout the interior, high quality materials and finishes convey contemporary, premium look and feel, with a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail for which Lexus is globally renowned. Soft touch finishes abound, including knee pads either side of the centre console for increased driver and front passenger comfort.

The new IS follows the GS and LS in adopting a Drive Mode Select system, with meter illumination and multi-information display design changing from blue to red in sports driving modes, along with the switching of the hybrid system indicator to a tachometer in the IS 300h.

ON-BOARD TECHNOLOGY

Dual-zone Air Conditioning with Electrostatic Switches

The new IS features a dual-zone air conditioning system with touch-sensitive, electrostatic switches to control the air conditioning temperature. Sliding a finger up or down the bar shaped switch allows for temperature adjustment in 0.5 degree increments. Temperature can also be adjusted by simply pressing the top or bottom half of the switch or the arrow markings.

Advanced Multimedia Systems

Two types of multimedia system are available for use in conjunction with the high-resolution 7" full colour display, Lexus Display Audio (LDA) and Electro Multi Vision Navigation (EMVN).

The EMVN system is operated via a second generation Lexus Remote Touch Interface (RTI) multi-function control device, which has been enhanced for increased user-friendliness and ease of operation.

iPod functionality and interface quality has been enhanced; via USB port connectivity, the iPod menu can now be driven from the vehicle's steering wheel control switches, and album cover art displayed on the 7" multimedia screen.

Premium Sound System

The new Lexus IS is fitted with a sound system representing the next generation of realism and clarity in Lexus sound. It features a fully digital, Class-D, 6 or 8 channel amplifier capable of creating virtually distortion-free sound with minimal voltage losses. The natural sound dynamics and rich harmonies generated by the high definition amplification are faithfully reproduced by an enhanced, 6 or 8-speaker layout which features a new, 55 mm wide-range tweeter.

Mark Levinson® Premium Surround System

Available with the new IS's EMVN system, the Mark Levinson® Premium Surround System creates sound based on the concepts of Effortless Dynamics and Effortless Transient Response, which combine natural dynamics with high response and tracking performance to offer sound quality equivalent to that of a live, concert hall performance.

Using the same technologies as those found in top-end home audio systems, it features a 12 channel fully digital Class-D amplifier generating a total output of 835 Watts through 15 GreenEdgeTM high-efficiency loudspeakers. A new Auto Volume system automatically adjusts system volume for each song being played to ensure consistent volume levels and full audibility for even the quietest passages of music.

Developing twice the volume for the same power consumption, GreenEdgeTM power-saving technology has been incorporated into each of the 15 speakers. GreenEdgeTM technology covers a wider frequency band than conventional systems, giving an enhanced dynamic range.

POWERTRAINS

The new IS will be available in two versions - the 2.5 litre V6 petrol engined IS 250 and the IS 300h: the first IS model to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive.

IS 300h

Reinforcing the company's commitment to the future of full hybrid drive technology, the new

IS 300h is equipped with a second generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system, which offers significant reductions in fuel consumption and CO2, NOx and particulate (PM) emissions, with no loss of performance.

The full hybrid drive system combines a powerful 105 kW/143 DIN hp electric motor with a newly developed, 2.5 litre, 133 kW/181 DIN hp, four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine featuring a next generation D-4S fuel injection system, Dual VVT-i and a high-efficiency Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system.

With the rear wheels driven through the hybrid system's Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT), total system power is 164 kW/223 DIN hp. The new IS 300h combines a

0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.3 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

Conversely, the new Lexus full hybrid returns an average fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100 km, and class-leading CO2 emissions from 99 g/km.

The new IS 300h is also the first Lexus full hybrid to install the battery beneath the luggage deck board, offering compartment capacity on a par with that of petrol engine models.

Sequential Shiftmatic

The IS 300h's transmission can also act as a sequential shiftmatic system operated via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The system has been tuned to more closely match engine speed increases in line with vehicle acceleration. Under deceleration, engine braking force is delivered in six steps, with a shift feel similar to that of a manual transmission. In combination, these E-CVT enhancements offer drivers a more engaging driving experience.

Active Sound Control (ASC)

The driving experience is further enhanced through the adoption of Active Sound Control (ASC); a new technology that compliments the engine sound with audio sound through a dedicated loudspeaker, delivering the engine sounds of acceleration and deceleration even when the engine is turned off and the full hybrid IS 300h is operating under electric motor power alone.

IS 250

The new IS 250 will be available in Europe with the rear-wheel drive version of the 2.5 litre V6 petrol engine. It develops 152 kW/207 DIN hp at 6,400 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, accelerating the IS 250 from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and giving a maximum speed of 225 km/h.

Carried over from the current IS 250, the chain-driven double overhead camshaft, 24 valve,

2,499 cc V6 petrol engine is of a particularly compact and lightweight design. Weight reduction measures include the use of an aluminium die-cast cylinder block and intake manifold, and a resin-made intake chamber. The overall engine assembly is made even lighter and more compact through the installation of the water and oil pumps within the chain cover.

The V6 features D-4 direct injection and Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) to both intake and exhaust camshafts, enhancing engine performance.

6-Speed Super Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT)

The IS 250's '6 Super ECT' close-ratio 6-speed automatic transmission features a sequential manual shifting mode. It incorporates numerous technologies including faster shift speeds, earlier torque converter lock-up and downshift throttle blips to support the range of driving modes available through the Drive Mode Select system.

DRIVING DYNAMICS

The target of segment-leading driving enjoyment has been at the heart of the new IS development programme, and -sacrificing none of the quietness and comfort inherent in any Lexus- every aspect of the new compact sedan's driving dynamics has been painstakingly engineered to that end.

The new bodyshell is lighter, yet more rigid than its predecessor. The front suspension system has been revised, and an all new rear suspension system adopted, combining outstanding grip performance with excellent response to steering inputs.

A new steering system offers a lighter, smoother, more accurate steering feel with enhanced response to inputs and greater feedback to the driver.

A new Drive Mode Select system features up to five switchable driving modes- EV (IS 300h only), ECO, NORMAL, SPORT/SPORT S and SPORT S+, to optimise the driver's preferred combination of economy, comfort, performance and handling characteristics.

F SPORT

IS F SPORT models may be instantly recognised by an exclusive grille and front bumper design. The 'waistline' of the grille is higher than on standard models, increasing the area of the lower grille to make it capable of drawing in a larger volume of cooling air appropriate to a sporting performance.

The grille itself has a unique, L-shaped mesh finish and the lower section is trimmed with a more prominent chrome-plated trim than that of the standard IS.

The bottom corners of the front bumpers feature LED foglamps and F SPORT-exclusive aerodynamic detailing to provide both downforce and enhanced brake cooling. Unique 18" wheels feature a Y-spoke design and a dark premium metallic coated finish which identifies them with the LFA bloodline.

F SPORT models are available in a choice of eight exterior colours of which two, Ultrasonic Blue and White Nova, are exclusive. White Nova has been developed exclusively to reflect the pure, sporting nature of the marque, as represented by the LFA supercar.

On board, F SPORT models inherit the Innovate driver's meter with moving centre ring from the LFA. An exclusive, highly supportive sports seat design uses an 'integrated foaming' construction method, ensuring that there are no gaps between seat upholstery and foam padding to combine excellent comfort with outstanding lateral holding performance.

Bespoke interior trim detailing includes an F SPORT steering wheel and shift knob finished in perforated leather, metal film 3-D-effect ornamentation, black seat stitching, and aluminium pedals and scuff plates. A choice of two interior colour schemes includes a new Dark Rose finish which is exclusive to F SPORT.

Both the front and rear suspension systems and the Electric Power Steering (EPS) are exclusively tuned for the F SPORT package, enhancing IS handling performance without detriment to ride quality.

An Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system is an option exclusive to the IS 300h F SPORT. The system allows the driver to fine tune the IS F SPORT's ride characteristics with a choice of two damper settings; 'Normal' mode, for everyday driving comfort, and Sport S+ mode, for improved body control and precise responses to steering input whilst cornering.

ADVANCED SAFETY

Every Lexus is designed to offer the very highest levels of active, passive and preventive safety. Incorporating Lexus' unique Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system, the new IS model range builds on the already superior safety performance of the current generation model with the addition of several, advanced new active safety features.

They include an Automatic High Beam (AHB) headlamp system, a Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system, a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and a Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system.

The new IS is also equipped with a sophisticated Pre-Crash System (PCS) which offers drivers collision avoidance assistance that is effective in helping mitigate even high-speed collisions.

Within a highly rigid body structure of exceptional car-to-car impact compatibility, no less than 8 airbags are fitted as standard, and a newly developed pop-up hood design allows for the lowest possible vehicle front profile whilst optimising pedestrian impact protection.

lexus,2013 IS,2013 Geneva

<pp:caseid>255374</pp:caseid>

CO2 EMISSIONS FROM 99g/km MATCHED WITH POWERTRAIN OUTPUT OF 223 hp

The new 2.5L hybrid powertrain developed by Lexus, and fitted for the first time in a rear-wheel drive vehicle in the all-new IS 300h, reaches unprecedented levels of energy efficiency. Capitalizing on many years of engineering and market experience, the latest implementation of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system brings an even greater environmental performance — with absolutely no compromise on power or driving behaviour.

With a total system output of 164 kW or 223 DIN hp, the new IS provides a dynamic drive supported by quick and smooth acceleration. CO2 emissions, as homologated for the European market, start from 99g(1), corresponding to a fuel consumption at 4.3 l/100 km. No other petrol, diesel or hybrid vehicle in the D-premium sedan segment is able to match this outstanding result.

The IS 300h hybrid powertrain features a newly developed, 2.5 litre, 133 kW / 181 DIN hp, four cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine featuring a next generation D-4S fuel injection system, Dual VVT-i and a high-efficiency Exhaust Gas Recirculation system. With the rear wheels driven through the system's Electric Continuously Variable Transmission, the new IS 300h combines a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.3 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

The driver can also modify vehicle and powertrain behaviour by switching between up to 5 different drive modes: EV (petrol engine switched off), ECO (optimal fuel efficiency), Normal, SPORT/SPORT S (more aggressive throttle response and sportier steering setting) and SPORT S+ (additionally adapted suspensions tuning)

The new IS is also available with an F SPORT package, featuring an exclusive tuning of the suspension and Electric Power Steering paired with an optional Adaptive Variable Suspension system as well as bespoke exterior and interior design elements.

The IS 300h is the first Lexus full hybrid where the battery is positioned beneath the luggage deck board. This again contributes to a sportier driving behaviour thanks to a lower centre of gravity and greater rear body rigidity, while also offering luggage capacity on a par with that of petrol engine models — and 60:40 split folding rear seats.

With its resolute look and ergonomic cabin layout, advanced technologies and enjoyable driving experience, the all-new IS 300h represents a strong contender in the strategic D-premium segment. Displayed for the first time in Europe at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the IS will be launched across the continent in June/July 2013.

(1) From 99g for the IS 300h ECO grade to 109g for the IS 300h F SPORT.

• All-new exterior and interior design, featuring Lexus spindle grille and LFA-inspired, driver-focused cockpit

</pp:summary>

Lexus today unveiled the all-new IS model range to be launched in Europe by mid-2013, including the IS 300h — the first IS to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive — and the rear-wheel drive IS 250, as well as a further evolution of the F SPORT package, available for both models.

Incorporating no less than 12 Lexus first features and technical innovations, the new IS also showcases an all-new interior that combines all the refinement and quality expected of any Lexus, with a more sporting, focused driver's environment, a significant improvement in rear seat space for best-in-class roominess, and a larger, more convenient luggage compartment.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

Following the new generation GS, ES and LS models, the all-new IS features the bold Lexus spindle grille frontal design, awarding the compact sedan a combination of aggressive elegance, a more powerful road presence and a stronger brand identity.

In profile, the mass of the cabin is concentrated rearwards and a rising line flowing from the lower body into the rear lamp clusters adds further elegance and dynamism.

The exterior design incorporates a new, powerfully articulated headlamp cluster design with Lexus trademark and L-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL) located independently below.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Featuring a clean and elegant design theme, the cabin provides a driver-focused, ergonomically ideal environment.

The newly designed driver's seat offers greater comfort and better lateral support. Both the seat hip point and the angle of the new, LFA-inspired steering wheel have been lowered and steering reach adjustment increased, creating a more sporting driving position.

Cabin material, trim and finish refinement is complimented by the latest advances in HMI technology and a high quality analogue clock with surface-emitting illumination. The centre console incorporates Lexus first, electrostatic switches to control the air conditioning temperature with the touch of a finger.

The new IS has a wheelbase 70 mm longer than its predecessor and is 10 mm wider, providing best in class rear seat comfort and luggage capacity. The combination of extended wheelbase and a thinner front seat design generates an 85 mm increase in knee room for the new, 60:40 split/folding seats, and improved accessibility.

The new IS 300h also provides excellent trunk capacity, thanks to the installation of the battery beneath the luggage deck board.

DRIVING DYNAMICS

Segment-leading driving enjoyment is at the heart of the new IS development programme, and every aspect of the new Lexus sedan's driving dynamics has been painstakingly engineered to that end.

New, laser screw welding and adhesive body bonding techniques, along with additional spot welding, have increased overall body rigidity.

The double wishbone front suspension system has been revised, offering a 20% increase in roll rigidity. To the rear, a new multi-link suspension system similar to that of the latest generation GS has been adopted.

The structure and rigidity of the steering gear box has been revised to create a lighter, smoother, more accurate steering feel.

A new Drive Mode Select system features up to four switchable driving modes- ECO, NORMAL, SPORT/SPORT S and SPORT S+ (the latter available on vehicles equipped with AVS), to optimise the driver's preferred combination of economy, comfort, performance and handling characteristics.

F SPORT

IS F SPORT models not only benefit from exclusive, more sporting and aggressive exterior and interior design features, but also genuine dynamic enhancements in the form of exclusively tuned front and rear suspension systems.

Externally, F SPORT models are instantly recognised by an exclusive front bumper and spindle grille design with a more prominent chrome trim and an exclusive mesh pattern.

On board, F SPORT models inherit the innovative driver's meter with moving centre ring from the LFA.

An exclusive seat design uses an 'integrated foaming' construction method to combine excellent comfort with outstanding lateral holding performance.

Both the front and rear suspension systems and the Electric Power Steering (EPS) are exclusively tuned for the F SPORT package, enhancing IS handling performance without detriment to ride quality. An Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system is also an option exclusive to F SPORT models.

POWERTRAINS

The new IS 250 will be available in Europe with the rear-wheel drive version of the 2.5 litre V6 petrol engine.

The all-new IS 300h's full hybrid rear-wheel drive system combines a powerful electric motor with a newly developed, 2.5 litre, four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine featuring a new D-4S fuel injection system, Dual VVT-i and a high-efficiency Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. With a total system output of 220 DIN hp, this system targets class-leading CO2 emissions of below 100 g/km, and average fuel consumption of less than 4.3 l/100 km.

ADVANCED SAFETY

A newly developed pop-up hood design creates space to absorb pedestrian impact force, allowing for the lowest possible vehicle front profile whilst optimising pedestrian impact protection.

Furthermore, several, advanced new active safety features are fitted on the new IS, including Automatic High Beam, Lane Departure Alert, Blind Spot Monitor and Rea Cross Traffic Alert.

</pp:summary>

The all-new Lexus IS will make its world debut at the Detroit Motor Show on January 15th 2013. A press conference will be held in the Cobo Centre at 9.30am, and live webcast streaming of the event will be available at http://www.lexus-global.com.

The all-new IS model range for Europe will include the IS 250 and the IS 300h, the first IS to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive, both models being also available with a further evolution of the F SPORT package.

Today, Lexus released photos of the all new IS in advance of next week's World Premiere. High resolution pictures can be downloaded on the Lexus European newsroom: http://newsroom.lexus.eu.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

Inspired by the acclaimed LF-CC concept, the all-new IS features the bold Lexus spindle grille frontal design, awarding the compact sedan a combination of aggressive elegance, a more powerful road presence and a stronger brand identity.

The new IS's increased width and wheelbase length provide significantly increased levels of rear seat comfort and luggage capacity. The combination of extended wheelbase and a thinner front seat design generates best-in-class knee room and improved accessibility. The IS also features new, 60:40 split/folding seats.

The newly designed driver's seat offers greater comfort and better lateral support. Both the seat hip point and the angle of the new, LFA-inspired steering wheel have been lowered and steering reach adjustment increased, creating a more sporting driving position.

Cabin material, trim and finish refinement are complimented by the latest advances in HMI technology and a high quality analogue clock with surface-emitting illumination. The centre console incorporates Lexus first, electrostatic switches to control the air conditioning temperature with the touch of a finger.

EXCLUSIVE F SPORT DESIGN FEATURES

F SPORT models are instantly recognised by an exclusive grille and front bumper design. The 'waistline' of the grille is higher than on standard models, increasing the area of the lower grille to make it capable of drawing in a larger volume of cooling air appropriate to a sportier performance.

The IS F SPORT also features an exclusive, highly supportive seat design using an 'integrated foaming' construction method, ensuring that there are no gaps between seat upholstery and filling to combine excellent comfort with outstanding lateral holding performance.

F SPORT models also inherit the innovative driver's meter with moving centre ring from the LFA.

lexus,2013 IS,2013 Detroit
